Škoda's turbocharged engines
Škoda had no category in the earliest record of GP Turbos' online shop, from April 2019. One had appeared by that July with four items, and it held ten by February 2023. Only one of those listings carried Škoda's name alone: a hybrid for the Fabia vRS with the 1.9 TDI (turbocharged direct injection) PD130 engine, PD being Pumpe-Düse, the unit-injector system. The rest were Volkswagen Group turbos that also fit Škoda models.
Fabia vRS and Fabia 1.9 TDI
The Fabia vRS diesel used a turbo from KKK (Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch, now part of BorgWarner), part number 5439-970-0023. GP Turbos' hybrid for it combined a billet compressor wheel with a 360° thrust bearing and was balanced to motorsport specification. The everyday Fabia 1.9 TDI with the BKC engine shares its turbo with the Volkswagen Polo and the SEAT Ibiza. GP Turbos listed several hybrids for that engine, one of them, with a bigger turbine wheel, intended for cars already converted to larger PD130 injectors.
Octavia vRS, generation by generation
The Octavia vRS badge has sat on three quite different petrol engines. The first generation's 1.8T 20v (AUQ) used a K03S. The second generation's 2.0 TFSI (BWA) used a K03, and a conversion to the larger K04 is a common upgrade; TFSI is the Volkswagen Group's name for its turbocharged direct-injection petrol engines. The third generation moved to the EA888 engine with an IHI IS20. No hybrid listed under the Octavia vRS name appeared in GP Turbos' past listings, so quote the part number on your turbo and ask before assuming one is available. A worn factory turbo can still be assessed for a rebuild.
Octavia and Superb diesels
From 2003 to 2009 the Octavia and Superb 2.0 TDI (engine codes including BMM, BMP and BVD) used Garrett turbos from the 765261 and 756867 families, and GP Turbos listed a hybrid for them. For the smaller 1.9 TDI engines of the period, including BJB, BKC, BXE and BLS, GP Turbos filed hybrids under Škoda that were mostly built on KKK turbos in the 5439 series, with a re-profiled compressor housing and a build described as blueprinted to motorsport standards.
A hybrid only pays off with the right supporting modifications and a matching engine calibration; see hybrid turbos. GP Turbos is independent of Škoda, and model names and part numbers are used only to identify parts.
