What Hardwire Electronics makes
Hardwire Electronics is a UK company that builds electronics for motorsport and car tuning, and it says it keeps all of its design and assembly in-house. Its main products are PDMs such as the PDM28, and it also sells Controller Area Network (CAN) bus keypads.
Hardwire explains that a PDM takes the place of conventional relays and fuses. It reads inputs from switches, analogue signals or messages on the CAN bus, supplies loads such as cooling fans, lights and pumps, and shuts an output down if a fault makes it draw too much current. Hardwire says its modules are rated IP67 (ingress protection) against dust and water, and are configured from a Windows PC over USB with free software.
Hardwire Electronics and a turbocharged build
A heavily modified turbocharged car can gain electrical loads such as extra fuel pumps and cooling fans, and a PDM gives each one a switched, protected supply. Hardwire says its modules have been used in drag racing, circuit, rally and drift cars.
In 2020, GP Turbos' website named Hardwire Electronics as one of its UK suppliers, and its shop at the time sold Hardwire CAN bus keypads, PDMs and switch panels. For the turbo side of a build, see hybrid turbos.
