What FCP Engineering makes
FCP Engineering's own-brand range covers H-beam and X-beam connecting rods, forged pistons, valve springs, titanium retainers, valve guides, solid lifters and lash caps. As examples of its specifications, it lists H-beam rods made from forged 4340 steel, and forged pistons in 4032-T6 alloy with a molybdenum-coated skirt, supplied with rings and pins.
FCP Engineering and a turbocharged build
More boost from a bigger or hybrid turbo raises cylinder pressure, and the connecting rods and pistons carry that load. Forged parts are a common choice when an engine is built for much more power than standard, and how far any engine can safely go depends on the whole build and its calibration.
FCP Engineering's catalogue includes parts for turbocharged Audi and Volkswagen engines such as the 1.8T 20-valve, the 2.0 TFSI, the 2.5 TFSI, the 2.7 biturbo and the 2.2 20-valve turbo five-cylinder, as well as BMW engines and the Nissan RB and SR series.
